![]() ![]() Having looked into his scriptorium method, I don't think I'd ever succeed in learning a single language with the methods he finds helpful, simply because they would be too tedious for too long for me to actually stick with them. Prof Argüelles not advocating for using it, or even actively discouraging its use, would not dissuade me, for example. I do think there is some room for arguing the merit of whether particular polyglots use a technique or not, though, as one can get a pretty solid gauge of how well individuals' learning styles coincide with their own. If they used it and stopped, it would also be interesting to know why it didn't work for them, or if they have one, what method they found Anki inferior to. what addons or card types? etc) in order to try and put together a list of "Anki best practices" so as to use the tool as efficiently as possible. If they do use it, then it would be interesting to know how and when they use it (keep adding words forever, only during initial vocabulary acquisition to front load before leaving off at an intermediate level. The third can be compelling for individuals who feel that a particular famous polyglot has a learning style that strongly coincides with their own, but otherwise is unnecessary for our purposes. I really think it's only the first and fourth answer that are of general interest.
